About Us

We are a locally-owned flower shop based on the concept of European flower markets. Each Wednesday when we recieve our shipment of flowers from Latin America, hundreds and hundreds of stems are loaded into black buckets-- it's a very messy job! From these buckets, customers can buy most flowers either by the stem or by the bunch.

Our goal is to provide you with long lasting, beautiful flowers at a reasonable price with excellent customer service. Go to "This Week's Flowers" to see pictures of what we have available this week. For more information about product, designs, deliverys, or events please don't hesitate to call us. Many thanks to those of you who visit!!! We are acquiring weekly customers, and we are very grateful!

Not the creative type? Our designers, pictured below, will be happy to help you. Stop in and see us soon!

Terry Robertson Smith - Terry is a native of Forest, IN in nearby Clinton County. She earned her degree in horticultural education from Purdue and has worked in many fields including plant leasing, flower arranging instruction, and flower importing and sales. Her goal is to bring beauty to life. Sounds corny, but it's true! Rubia Flower Market is the birth of a lifelong dream. Her favorite flower of the moment is the Tropical Amazon Rose. Her favorite color of the second is purple.

Kim Morris - Kim leads the pack in creativity and imagination on a shoestring budget. When you visit Rubia Flower Market, check out the wonderful colors in the bathroom! The color combination is Kim's inspiration. No one will fall asleep in there! Kim hails from a small town in Illinois and her husband is an avid Illini fan. Kim reads Martha Stewart Living faithfully, and it's wonderful to brainstorm with her. Kim's favorite flower is the rose, and her favorite color is black.

Jennifer Johnson - Jennifer is one of our newest additions to our Rubia Family and we're so glad to have her! Our resident jokester has over 14 years of experience in the floral world, so she understands all the inner-workings of making people happy. Stick around the store for long enough and you're sure to hear one of her famous puns! Aside from being humorous, she enjoys strumming her guitar and singing to anyone who will listen. Her favorite flower is alstromeria.

Jennifer's email is flowers@rubiainc.com

Sarah LaMar - Sarah is a senior at Purdue University majoring in Photography. While being a full time student takes up a lot of her time, she still finds plenty of time to work at the store both on arrangements and on the website & newsletter. In her spare time she teaches at Ivy Tech, kareokes and travels to destinations near and far! Her favorite flower is the tropical Ginger.
Cori Thimlar - Cori is a self-proclaimed Ranch dressing conneseiur and is from the far off lands of Elkhart, IN. You can spot her in the store because she's likely to be the one wearing black! Jacqui's favorite color is light blue and her favorite flower is the yellow gerbera daisy.

RUBIA ALUMNI
Janet Schweikher - "Schweik" held down the fort at Rubia for a long time and is one of our favorite "Rubia Alums"! You go, girl! We miss his incredible sense of design, color, and space organization. Most importantly, he can still enjoy a Schlitz as much as a Chimay, the fine Belgian ale brewed by monks. His favorite flower is the dustbuster, and his favorite color is Miles Davis Blue.
Becky Winger - Becky burst upon the Rubia Flower Market scene after the Grand Opening and made many, many beautiful arrangements while working for Rubia. She is a seamstress, candy maker, and photographer...
